Liza was sent to Herota to work on one of the Soviet Far East’s largest mining projects. Herota was supposed to become a paradise for workers and their families. Instead, it became a trap.
Now the village lives through endless shortages, and everyone who had a chance to leave is already gone. Her children are slowly dying, and the nearest hospital capable of helping them lies far beyond Herota.
