Game Overview & Description Rogue Mate is a turn-based tactical roguelite built off the bones of chess, where your pieces become more useful as you progress. Fight through waves of enemies while your Pawns, Knights, Bishops, Rooks, King, and Queen earn upgrades, unlock special abilities, and evolve into something the board has never seen. Build Your Warband Build your warband to suit your playstyle. Spend Gold to recruit new pieces, and spend Essence to unlock permanent skill branches. Pick your starting formation, then shape each piece through branching upgrade paths. Each run can be approached differently: do you push your Knight down a path of leaping strikes and shockwaves, or build a Rook that tears through everything in its lane? The decision is yours. Tactical Depth Turn-based strategy meets relentless pressure. Enemies advance from all sides, and one bad decision can collapse your entire formation. Positioning, piece synergy, and upgrade timing separate a good run from a legendary one. Rule-Breaking Bosses Fight bosses that break the rules. Across 2 campaigns and 20 boss encounters, each battle offers a unique challenge to conquer: - Bleed out against 1,000 Cuts - Outwit The Jester - Survive the Shadow Lord's fog - Crack the Unbreakable - Unmask the False King - And many more! Take on enemy Kings whose modifiers warp the board itself—freezing your pieces, poisoning the ground, and turning your own formation against you. Staggering Customization A staggering depth of customization awaits. With 5 starting formations, 18 skill branches across your pieces, and 26 upgrades each offering multiple variants, the decisions compound fast. Swap one branch, take a different upgrade path, and the whole run changes shape. Challenges Await You - March to Battle: Fight through escalating boss fights, each with its own mechanics and twist. - The Gauntlet: Every boss, back-to-back. You will not survive. - Endless: No finish line. How long can you hold the board? - (NEW!!) MiThiKaL Trials: Bosses here push you to your limits, from objective-based game types to fighting Medusa and Achilles—these won't be so easy to take on. - Grandmaster Difficulty: For players looking for the ultimate test, where each fight fields a second enemy King with its own modifier stacked on top. Between Runs Rebuild at camp between runs. Recruit pieces, unlock permanent upgrades, arrange your formation, and customize the Codex to tune each upgrade function to your liking. Track your runs, kills, and personal bests in the Hall of Records, and spend Gold mid-run at the Travelling Merchant when fortune puts him on your path.
