Deep underground in 887 AD, Slovenia, after the fall of the Carolingian Empire, the last of humanity dwells in just two settlements. Honor has all but given way to survival instincts and everyone has their own idea of the best way to survive this new world. Explore the underground as hopeless Slavic peasant Jaro and sheltered Frankish princess Gisela. Guide them to stop the rot, both in their fellows and in the underground itself. Sneak past strangers, try to understand them, or tear them apart. Become charming manipulators, mysterious weirdos, or complete disasters. Mix and match eight traits that change your approach to everything. In one life, you might push boulders to solve problems. In another, smash straight through them. Getting caught by an enemy could mean death, or perhaps convince them to let you go and even end up becoming friends... Every trait can change dialogue and the choices available to you choices. Some combine in ways you won’t expect, and others can create a confusingly contradictory person. You might end up as someone who cannot see the truth, thus leading you to a terrible end should you follow only what is said to you directly. If you liked Disco Elysium, you'll know some of what to expect. If you get too risky and push too hard, a main character can die. That's okay, keep playing as the other one. There are many opportunities to make choices that are big and small, though which ones will come back to haunt you are often a mystery. In trying to help your childhood friend, you might accidentally get him killed. Or, if you speak your mind and stand up for someone, with the right traits you just might save their life... If you ignore people, they will have no real opinion on you. Maybe that's better than being rude to them, but will they be there for you when you need them? There are many opportunities to spend time with and help others, often through minigames that can have a big impact on the outcomes of each settlement. Who will the princess Gisela choose to marry?
