YOU DON'T GET TO DIE TONIGHT
Bernhardt Godfrey wakes up on a farm he can't leave. Something is moving out in the fields, and something worse is waiting in the manor. He has a flashlight and whatever weapons he can scavenge. If he gets careless, neither will save him.
TURN-BASED TERROR
Every action costs Action Points, and the monsters have them too. Some have more than you. Waste a turn and you can be torn apart before you ever see what did it.
THE DARK IS HUNTING YOU
Monsters stay hidden until your light finds them. Sweep the flashlight across a room and you might see nothing, or you might see three of them already closing in. They move through the dark between turns, so the thing you spotted a moment ago may be somewhere else now.
EVENTS AND ENCOUNTERS
The farm is full of randomized events. An angel offers to upgrade your weapon. A hidden monster feeds on a cow carcass. Rare puzzles guard a powerful red jewel. Most encounters help you survive. Some make things much worse.
51 WEAPONS
Cursed revolvers, scythes, ancient swords, even a rocket launcher. You'll find something new almost every run, and you can temper a favorite to keep it strong. Many weapons have their own tricks. Spirit of Hickock fires on every enemy you can see and always crits. The God Ender, a relic of some forgotten pagan people, calls down ion beams. None of it matters if you can't see what you're aiming at.
91 OMENS
Omens are relics that shape your run, and you can carry as many as you find. Most are common or uncommon, and a few are rare. Cursed omens hit hard, but their trade-offs can get you killed.
31 F*CKED UP MONSTERS
Creatures warped by curses and forces you can't understand roam the fields and the manor looking for flesh. Some you can fight. Some you should run from. Study a species up to three times, with progress saved across runs, and you'll unlock a VISCERAL, a brutal execution you can use on that species under the right conditions.
NO TWO NIGHTS ARE THE SAME
Maps, events, monsters, items and weapons all come from a random seed. You won't live through the same night twice.
THREE WAYS TO PLAY
- Story Mode: Two chapters, tense cutscenes, a handful of strangers, and a past Bernhardt is trying to outrun. What does Vaughan want from him, and what will Bernhardt do about it?
- Custom Night: A harder mode where you choose your starting kit.
- The Abyss: Build your own endless map with node cards, fusions and random events. Something is waiting at row 50. Get that far and you'll meet it.
Can you beat both chapters and overcome the dark? What does Vaughan want, and what will you decide as Bernhardt Godfrey?
