Informazioni su She Doesn't Speak My Language
She doesn't speak your language. Will you fall for her in English?
A lovely woman is right in front of you. You work up the courage to say hello, and she doesn't speak a word of your language!
There are no dialogue choices in this game. Say what you want to tell her in English, and she replies only to what came across. You can only win her over as far as your English will carry you.
When you get through to her, her face softens and she smiles. Some days she quietly tells you something she hasn't told anyone else.
When you don't, she gives you a puzzled little smile and says, "Sorry... I don't understand."
Then she waits quietly while you try again. Searching for the words while she looks at you, a little awkward and a little heart-pounding, is part of the fun. Here, it's safe to make mistakes
Getting your English wrong in a real conversation can be scary. Here, however many times you slip up, it stays a secret between you and her.
If she doesn't understand, try saying it another way, as many times as you like.
After each date, you can look back at what you said alongside a more natural way to say it. Each mistake becomes something to build on next time. This game is for you if...
- You've tried English classes or apps, but found it hard to keep going.
- You'd like to practice speaking, but there's no one around to talk to.
- Monthly fees for English lessons feel like too much.
- You'd like to talk with a charming woman in English.
- You enjoy stories about growing close to someone from abroad.
Menus and dictionary translations can also be shown in Japanese or Chinese.Four heroines, each with her own English
The level in parentheses shows roughly how hard her English is. It uses CEFR, an international scale: A1 is the easiest, then A2, then B1.
- Mira (A2): A librarian from Dublin. She teases you with sarcasm and puns, but she'll search hard for a book you can actually read.
- Sofia (A1, the easiest): A barista from San Diego. She loves to talk and never lets the conversation go quiet. She writes your name on the cup, spells it wrong, and laughs as she writes it again.
- Chloe (B1, a little harder): An art student from London. She's cool and rarely gives compliments, so from her, "Not bad" is the highest praise.
- Amara (A2): A doctor from Nairobi. She's kind to everyone and always seems so dependable that nobody ever worries about her. But maybe, deep down, she'd like someone to ask her, "Are you okay?"
If you don't understand an expression from her hometown, just ask ("What does grand mean?") and she'll explain it in simple English. She remembers you
She remembers what you've told her, what you like and the promises you've made, and she'll bring them up herself the next time you meet.
All four are living in Japan, far from home. Some days she'll turn to you with a note written in Japanese: "What does this note say?"
When she talks about something she loves, add that English word to your wordbook. You can only give her items whose English names are in your wordbook.
Give her gifts, celebrate anniversaries and keep visiting, and she'll send you letters and voice messages.
If you get busy and can't visit for a while, she won't hold it against you. She might miss you a little, though...
The gifts she's given you and the illustrations of your moments together can be revisited on the Memories screen at any time.Features for learning English
- You can speak to her or type your replies. Of course, I recommend speaking out loud. When the words won't come, or you're somewhere you can't talk, you can switch to the keyboard at any time.
- Click any word she says to see what it means. Words you look up go into your wordbook and come back for review just as you're about to forget them (spaced repetition).
- By default, suggestions and corrections are shown together after the date, so they don't interrupt the conversation. If you'd like to see them right away, turn on "Show wording tips during the date" in Settings.
- The review at the end of each day compares your accuracy, sentence length and range of vocabulary with last time, and shows how many words you've spoken in English so far.
- Pronunciation hints cover sounds that Japanese speakers often find difficult (L/R, TH, V/B, and adding extra vowels at the end of words).
- There are four difficulty levels. On Casual, the easiest, you can try again as often as you like and affection never drops (though some scenes only appear when she understands you). On Spartan, the hardest, you can't retry a line, affection drops if she doesn't understand you at all, and her listening is the strictest.
Everything runs on your PC
The AI that phrases her replies, the speech recognition and the voice synthesis are all processed on your own PC, not on an external server.
No account or subscription is required, and nothing you type or say is sent to a server to be processed. (If you use Steam Cloud, your save data is synced through Steam.)
Once you've purchased the game, you can visit her every day if you like. The longer you keep playing, the more memories you'll share with her. From the developer
For years, I kept signing up for English classes and trying new apps, only to give up each time.
People told me to make friends from abroad or find a foreign partner, but I'm not that outgoing.
What I wanted was a game that is genuinely fun and still lets you practice English seriously, one you can keep coming back to. So I decided to make it myself.
I sincerely hope that anyone who has struggled the same way will enjoy talking with these four women and, little by little, make English their own.In Early Access, I'll keep improving it with your feedback
I'm making this game because I want to be able to speak English myself, so I have no intention of releasing it and walking away.
I'll read every piece of feedback and every request, and keep improving the conversations, the stories and the way the heroines are written.
Going forward, I also plan to work on versions for learning languages other than English, a version for women players, and a stronger conversation AI.How the game uses AI
The story and the goal of each scene were designed in advance, and every reply she makes has a pre-written fallback line.
During a conversation, a small language model running on your PC phrases her reply within that scene. The AI never decides where the story goes.
If a reply doesn't pass the game's checks or takes too long, she uses the fallback line instead.
Character art, event illustrations, voices and music were created using generative AI that is licensed for commercial use.Other notes
- The interface is available in English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.
- All characters are adults. There is no sexual content.
- Pronunciation hints and corrections are for guidance only and are not a substitute for a language test or certification.
- New outfits and new heroines (for example, one who is good at business English) are planned as add-on content. The base game is being made so you can enjoy it to the end without buying any add-ons.
