Years later, our protagonist, named Michael Dawson a freelancer specializing in antique acquisitions, came across a newspaper clipping about the mansion's grim history while perusing records at the town library. Intrigued by the macabre tale and the possibility of uncovering valuable artifacts, he decided to investigate the abandoned mansion himself.
