关于 VOLTGATE
Small robots. Loud arenas. Big explosions.
VOLTGATE is an arena shooter, in first or third person, about tiny, toy-bright robots that hit way above their weight. Fast robot arena fights, a crowd that wants a show, and a knockout at the end of every round. It is free to play. Every weapon and every robot part is unlocked by playing, and the only things for sale are looks.
The fight
- Online matches. Find a match or open a private room and send your friends the code. Matches run on our own match servers, so nobody plays with host advantage.
- Vote for the arena. Before a matchmade fight, everyone picks one of two arenas, or RANDOM. Agree and that's the arena; disagree and a roulette decides. Then the slam, the countdown, and go.
- First to three. Every round ends in a knockout. The robo that goes down breaks apart into bolts, oil and spare parts, and the next round starts.
- Killcam. After every knockout the killcam plays the finishing shot back and follows your rocket, missile or grenade all the way to impact. Yes, it was that close. Online, the killcam ends early once everyone skips it.
- Arenas that fight back. Jump pads, moving sky platforms, cover you can blow apart, slippery ice, lava, and an energy edge that zaps anyone careless enough to touch it.
Build your robo
Every robo has five slots: body, primary, secondary, jetpack and dash. Mix them however you like. Each choice changes how you fight.
- Bodies: Spark, the nimble all-rounder. Bulwark, a heavy that takes a beating and runs slower. Scout, fast, small and fragile.
- Primaries: the Starter Blaster for steady, accurate shots. The Rapid Gun, which sprays fast and runs hot, so hold the trigger too long and it overheats. The Scatter Cannon: brutal up close, nothing past 20 metres. The Rail Gun: long range. Hold to charge, and it fires itself when full.
- Secondaries: the Rocket Launcher, with one slow rocket and a very big boom. The Missile Pod, which locks on and sends three homing missiles. The Grenade Launcher, for getting around corners and forcing robots out of cover. The Vortex Shield, which catches shots and throws them back.
- Jetpacks: the Jet Booster for huge jumps plus one more in the air, or the Glide Pack, so you can hang over the arena and pick your shot.
- Dashes: the Sprint Dash, quick on the ground and fast to recharge, or the Air Dash, two long dashes that also work mid-air.
Start with the Blaster, Rapid Gun, Rocket Launcher, Missile Pod, Spark and Bulwark. The Scatter Cannon, Grenade Launcher, Scout, Vortex Shield and Rail Gun unlock as you level up. They are never sold.
Arenas
- HOLO STADIUM: a night stadium with a plateau, ramps, jump pads, a sky platform and an energy edge. Plus a full crowd, a jumbotron and fireworks when somebody gets flattened.
- CROSSFIRE: 44 metres of corner bases, a high keep, side ledges and two sky platforms. Room to fly.
- FROSTBITE: a frozen bowl with a slippery ice field in the middle. You keep your momentum, so turning, stopping and landing all slide. Crystal bounce pads throw you up to the rock ring, and the frozen cover cracks and shatters.
- FOUNDRY: a steelworks hall on two levels, with lava channels, catwalks and a furnace in the middle. Lava hurts. And every so often a LAVA SURGE floods the lower level, and only the upper level is safe.
- CLASSIC: 16 metres, four blocks and a low wall. Nowhere to hide.
Practice before you get practised on
- Tutorial: a short guided start the first time you play, and a tour of the menus. Replay both any time from Settings.
- VS CPU: fight the sparring bot on any arena at a difficulty from 1 to 10.
- Sandbox: no score and no pressure. Set up your own robo and a test bot (body, parts, standing still, strafing or fighting back), and read your damage, accuracy, DPS and time to kill in a live stats panel.
- PROVING GROUNDS: the sandbox's own arena, with a firing range out to 45 metres, a lane of moving targets and a splash corner packed with practice robots.
Every day, every week, every season
- Missions: three daily missions and five weekly ones, from "win two matches" to "10 knockouts with the Rail Gun". They pay Volts and season XP. One free reroll per mission, every day.
- Shop: four new offers every day and two bundles every week. Try anything on your robo before you buy it.
- Seasons: Season 1, LIVE WIRE, runs eight weeks with 50 tiers, a free track and a premium track. The premium track costs Volts and pays back more Volts than it costs.
- Volts: the game's currency. You earn them in every match, from missions, level-ups and the season, with a bonus for your first three wins each day. You can also buy them through Steam.
Free to play. Cosmetics only.
- The whole game is free: every mode, every arena, every weapon and every robot part.
- Only looks cost Volts: paints, finishes, weapon skins, trails, tracers, reticles and card designs. None of them change a single number in a fight.
- No loot boxes: what you buy is shown before you buy it, and you get exactly that.
- Some things can't be bought at all: achievement rewards and secret items have to be earned.
Make it yours
- Levels and drops: every match earns XP, and every level-up drops a new item. Items come as common, rare, epic or legendary. Some levels also unlock a new robo part.
- Garage: paints and finishes, weapon skins, sights, lenses, reticles, trails and tracers. See any locked item on your robo before you have it.
- Calling cards: build your card from backgrounds, frames, emblems, colours, finishes and titles. It slams onto the screen before every match, so make it count.
- Profile: your level, inventory and a long list of stats, from knockouts and rocket direct hits to metres flown.
- Achievements: 16 Steam achievements, plus secret items for the players who go looking.
- Steam login: sign in with your Steam account and your progress comes with you.
