Sobre Minato Shokudo: Mirage of the Great Clam
The owner of this diner is a ghost, and ghosts can't taste. They know every step by heart, though, and do each one the proper way: scale the fish, fillet it, and lift the kelp out just before the water boils. Then the meal goes into a carrying box and rides a little boat to someone's door.
Deliver it while it's still steaming
Miso soup spills, so row gently. Fried fish goes cold, so hurry. Rain cools food faster. The boat radio plays Minato FM.
The fish comes apart where your knife goes in
Cut, and the fillet separates right along your stroke. When frying, wait until the bubbles get smaller and the sizzle turns light. All 50 dishes follow the same order you'd use at home. When you finish, you get stars for your handiwork and one short note on what almost went right. Once you know a dish, you can make it without the guide.
Cook it for real
Every dish you make in the game also becomes a page with quantities, a shopping list and the steps. I wanted you to be able to make the same thing in your own kitchen, too.
Run the diner
Take orders and keep several dishes going at once. As word gets around, regulars start coming in and telling you how they like things: "I like my dashimaki with a bit of color on it." Then come customers in a hurry, phone orders for delivery, morning prep, and the odd big group.
Grow herbs out back
Behind the diner you grow scallions, shiso and mitsuba in pots. Water them, pick them when they're ready, and keep them in jars. A garnish on the side means bigger tips, and you can sell them too. Some of the people you deliver to will give you seedlings.
Drive around town
Save up and the old shipwright will sell you a beat-up three-wheeled truck. Drive anywhere on the east side of town, and once the roadwork is done, take the bamboo path up to the lookout over the bay. At the workshop you can add a headlight or a canopy, and you can give a lift to people waving you down.
Cook it together
One of you fillets the fish while the other chops the garnish, and you finish the dish together. On deliveries, one rows while the other steadies the carrying box. The screen splits in two: one player on mouse, the other on a gamepad. You can play everything solo, too.
Regulars, and foggy nights
Remember a regular's usual order and they'll start talking to you, a little more each visit.
One foggy night, the lighthouse out in the bay goes dark. In its place, lanterns come on one by one, deep in the fog, and you can just hear festival drums.
