YOU ARE THE OLDEST GAME THERE IS A snake in a pit. It grows when it eats. It dies when it crosses itself. That part has not changed in fifty years. What you are fighting has. A Doomscroll Gremlin. A Reply-Guy Mosquito. A CAPTCHA Crab. An Algorithm Eye. Twenty-four of them, and every one is something the internet did to you first. They come in the hundreds. They do not get tired. So you stop being a snake that eats, and become a snake that is built. EVERY SEGMENT OF YOUR BODY IS A WEAPON Kill. Level up. Spend a MOLT. A new segment grows. FANG fires bolts. TESLA chains lightning. FROST freezes whatever gets close. EMBER burns the ground under you. MAW blasts a shotgun cone wherever that part of your body happens to be pointing. Eleven weapons. Every one of them fires on its own. You never aim. You steer. Your body is not carrying the build. Your body IS the build. THE ORDER IS THE PUZZLE A segment only looks at its neighbors. Put FROST next to FANG and your bolts crit anything slowed. Put EMBER next to TESLA and every jump of the chain sets its target on fire. Put TESLA next to LEECH and every jump heals you. Drop a support between two weapons and it feeds both at once. Move one segment one place and you light a reaction, kill another, and change who gets fed. There is no inventory screen. The snake is the inventory. FUSE, AND TRADE LENGTH FOR TEETH Two identical neighbors fuse into one, up to Tier 3. It is not a bigger number. It is a different shape. Fewer segments. Heavier weapons. A shorter body that can close a tighter circle. Grow wide, or compress hard. The snake plays differently either way. CLOSE THE OUROBOROS Your best attack is not aimed. It is drawn. Steer your head around a crowd until it touches your own tail. The loop closes. The shape is measured. Everything caught inside is executed at once. But a tight circle packed with bodies pays better than a wide empty one. So closing is a decision: take what you have, or go around one more time? TWELVE FLOORS DOWN, AND SOMETHING ABOVE THE LAST ONE The pit has twelve floors. Each one keeps a guardian, and each guardian wants a different snake than the one that beat the floor below. Eleven climbs already failed. The Library keeps what they wrote down. Every guardian has an eye. You will notice that later than you should. EL DEVORADOR DOES NOT WAIT Ring volleys. Solar spirals. Aimed cones. A beam that sweeps. Rot falling from above. His own brood. He fights in phases, he is reborn between them, and his Mark punishes anyone who stands still. He is not the top of the pit. He is the first one who makes you build on purpose. SKILL MATCH — THE MAIN EVENT Seventeen waves, with air between them. A mid-boss holding a chest at wave 7. A shop. And three charges of REORDER: a workshop that stops the world so that rebuilding your body is a puzzle instead of a reflex test. This is where the machine gets designed. ARCADE — FIVE MINUTES, NO AIR A 5 to 7 minute run of unbroken pressure, with EL DEVORADOR arriving at 5:00 sharp. Build fast. Adapt faster. No workshop is coming to save you. TURN THE RISK DIAL YOURSELF Four alchemical acts: NIGREDO. ALBEDO. CITRINITAS. RUBEDO. Then push each one with five optional Danger rungs. Each rung is one sentence you read before you accept it, and the payout is wired to the same dial. Some of them feed the horde. Others graft a new attack onto the boss. Clear Danger 5 and D-HELL opens, past the top of the ladder. LOSING PAYS Win or lose, you keep your Scales. You spend them in THE NEST: 29 nodes across four concentric rings, with health, damage and speed on offer in every ring, so no ring only sells you sidegrades. One bad run buys your first node. SOLEMN ALCHEMY, RIDICULOUS JUNK The four acts are named after the stages of the Great Work, and the world takes that completely seriously. Your relics are a fridge magnet, a baby tooth, a portable grill, a plunger, grandma's scarf and the leftovers of a Sunday cookout. Neither half ever acknowledges the other.
