A single character may hold a hundred or more hand-written responses to your questions; the game retrieves the one that fits the moment. Choices carry weight the game doesn't announce. How thoroughly you investigate changes what the finale lets you do. Endings are assembled from the flags your voyage actually raised: who you saved, what you broke, which questions you never asked.
