About the game
About Palimpsest: Where Magic Remembers
Ysmere is a world of islands floating above an endless sea of cloud, where magic is as ordinary as breathing and a ringed planet hangs over the horizon at eternal dusk. Every child is taught to bow to it. Somewhere above, the Gilded Seven hold court: seven kings who have ruled for nine hundred years.
You are Aren. You wake in the flowers of a tiny, forgotten island with no memory of your own, and a gift no one else has: you can feel the magic left behind in old places, step inside those memories, and learn from them.
There are no experience points in PALIMPSEST. Your power comes from places. Touch an Imprint, the fingerprint great magic leaves behind, and the world washes into ink and paper while the past replays around you. When it ends, your hands know how it was done.
Masked beasts roam the wild. The towns call them Hollows, and every home keeps a lamp against the dark. They charge the crowds and lunge at anyone whose hands glow with magic. You meet them in meadows, on bridges of light, and high above the cloud sea.
- Twelve beast companions (Kin) to find along the way.
- Ride them: gallop on the Lanternhart, swim up waterfalls into the sea that hangs over Tidemere, walk walls on the Helixhorn.
- Wings in the dusk: some Kin leave the ground entirely, and the sky becomes another road.
The clouds are open. Fight drained skyrays between the islands, leap from one great beast to another, and duel where the cloud sea falls away.
-
What will you do with it?
Every Imprint you take stays with you. Which memories you follow, which Kin you trust, and how you cross the sky are yours to decide.
PALIMPSEST is a third-person action-adventure with a deep story, a painterly aesthetic, and loads of magic, made with Godot Engine by a solo developer.
