À propos : Street Witch
Street Witch is a bright, visceral, old school FPS, with a focus on lurid visuals and dark combat action. It’s a solo dev project and I really wanted to make something that felt like a weird build engine clone from a late 90’s shareware disk.
You play Megan, a witch living in 90’s Goblin City. A gang of ruthless Street Gobbos have stolen Megan’s beloved cat The Dark Princess and robbed her of her magic, so she’s resorting to guns and steel-toe-cap boots on a brutally unhinged mission to get her cat back, and kick some Gobbo ass in the process.
It’s a short, linear, boomer shooter taking you from the scene of the crime, to the streets of Goblin city and into clubs and casinos in your hunt for your pet. The mechanics and action are simple, but the game does not hold your hand at all. I wanted to make something that you can dive into and challenge yourself with, but that you can also finish in an evening.
Street Witch takes it back to the 90’s with it’s dev process. Every enemy is either digitised video of me in a costume, or a stop frame animation. Every weapon, enemy, character and interaction is painstakingly costumed, filmed and digitised into sprites in the game. It’s a totally inefficient and outdated way of making a game, but I grew up playing games like this and love the look, it’s something I’ve always wanted to replicate.

Disclaimer.
