Transform a rundown tavern into a veritable underground city for thieves, bandits, assassins, cultists, smugglers, pirates, mercenaries, and other riffraff from across the kingdom. Give every outcast a roof over their head and a job for their skillset. BUILD AN UNDERGROUND EMPIRE Start with a small tavern as a front for your shady business, and expand the den floor by floor. Build barracks, brothels, gambling parlors, lockpick workshops, labs, and dozens of other rooms, each opening up new opportunities for your organization. GATHER THE SCUM Every vagabond or escaped convict who knocks on the tavern's door can become a client, a regular, or a valuable employee. There is room for some in the barracks, where they can live, rest, and enjoy the den's amenities; others can be recruited into the gang and assigned suitable work. The O.U.T.L.A.W.S. stat system will help determine which criminal trade they will excel at. SEND PEOPLE OUT ON MISSIONS While some maintain the den, others gather information and carry out missions outside its confines. Set up a Rumor Room and a Planning Room, dispatch informants, and send out your best daredevils to carry out heists and assassinations and to scour ancient ruins for gold and rare loot. DEFEND THE DEN Your lodgers aren't always willing to share a roof peacefully. Assign the toughest of them as bouncers to stop fights and maintain order. Increase security to fend off raids by the city guards and the evil spirits swarming from the ancient dungeons. DIG DEEPER Expand your den with caution: every level may reveal secret waterways, cursed treasuries, catacombs full of the undead, and shrines to forgotten gods. However, these discoveries offer more than just threats—they can also serve as foundations for some exclusive buildings.
