Familiar places. Impossible worlds. LIMINAL is a first-person exploration sandbox set in a vast, seeded world. Walk beneath immense structures, follow winding paths through unfamiliar landscapes, and step into places that feel almost familiar. There is no map or objective trail. Curiosity decides where you go next.Look through. Step beyond. Portals reveal another place before you cross them and connect the overworld to 60 distinct realms. Wander empty hotels, abandoned malls, flooded galleries, impossible pools, lunar offices, cloud cities, cathedrals, and buried spaces. Every realm has its own architecture, materials, weather, light, and sound. Follow a path toward another threshold or leave it behind to explore.Survive what lives there. Four hostile creature archetypes inhabit eight realms, with up to two enemies active at once. They move, attack, and endure damage differently. Defend yourself with a revolver or unlock a pump shotgun that fires eight separately traced pellets. Bullets leave visible wounds in enemies and damage breakable world surfaces. Defeated enemies drop orbs. Collect them on foot or shoot them out of the air. In solo play, spend orbs in the opening shop to unlock the shotgun or restore your health.Stop and listen. Four cathedral realms contain playable pipe organs with two manuals, a 25-note pedalboard, sixteen drawstops, a working swell box, and 117 keys. They are instruments built into the world, not a menu or minigame.Play solo, in VR, or together. Save your solo journey locally and return later. Use keyboard and mouse or a gamepad in standard mode, or enter the separate OpenXR mode with a compatible PC VR headset and tracked controllers. On Steam, choose Multiplayer to enter the shared LIMINAL world, see other players, and use proximity voice. Multiplayer and OpenXR are separate modes.
