A young flamingo is left behind during migration season. In search of Illapa, the Ancient God who might teach him to fly, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery and spirituality, inspired by Bolivian folklore. EL SALAR is a top-down adventure game with aesthetics reminiscent of early 2D Zelda, Undertale, and the Mother series. However, its mechanics are more aligned with the Oddworld series, focusing less on direct combat and more on outwitting or outrunning enemies. In this game, players simultaneously control Galaxia, a flamingo, and Charango, a quirquincho (an Andean armadillo), in a unique "single-player co-op" mode. Each character is controlled with one hand in a coordination exercise, requiring them to work together to solve puzzles and reach the mysterious god, Illapa. The art style is directly inspired by "Aguayos," traditional Andean wool art made in colorful patterns. The settings draw inspiration from Bolivian landscapes, and the score blends Andean folklore with electronic ambient music. Explore the village and outer areas - Explore the beautiful areas inspired by real-life locations. - Meet a colorful cast of characters and have humorous interactions with them. - Get hints to find the hidden temple. Enter the Temple and face its challenges Here the game starts properly. - Control both characters simultaneously in order to solve the puzzles in each room and proceed. - Collect the keys and reach the "Boss" Room. - Avoid the foxes and traps or use them to your advantage! Run away! Once you finally face the boss, it's time to escape! Use all the mechanics learned during the level and apply them with a time constraint as Illapa tries to catch up to you! Side quests The game has two brief side quests you can complete to get the full experience. - El Ekeko: Find the mysterious merchant hidden in the temple. - La Llama Cosmica: Help the village's cumbia band get their act together and find a drummer! Collect the coins There are 6 hidden coins in the game. Can you find them all? The current demo contains the first level in its entirety and is about 30-60 minutes of gameplay. It's also available in Spanish and English. Note: There are still some bugs. If by chance you encounter one that leaves you stuck in a room, you can press 'R' to restart said room.
