Dates at the Table

Take a seat at the table and see how well you know the order of history. Dates at the Table is a first-person timeline card game for solo play, up to six people sharing one computer, or 2–6 players online through Steam. Choose Australian or Japanese history, receive four cards with their dates hidden, and decide where each event belongs. Place your card, reveal its exact date, and find out.Four cards. One growing timeline. The starting player is chosen randomly. Take turns placing one card and try to empty your hand first. Get the order right and your hand shrinks. Miss the date and draw a replacement: the played card still joins the board in its correct position, giving everyone another clue. Use the timeline slider to explore the growing board. When it reaches 60 cards, continuing after the reveal starts a fresh timeline while everyone keeps their hands and progress. A winning move takes priority. Solo play follows the same rules until your hand is clear.Two countries, 1,000 events Choose between two separate decks: 500 Australian events and 500 Japanese events, covering history within 1900–2026. Explore politics, culture, science, sport, everyday life and the natural world. The Australian deck includes a substantial selection of Queensland events. Every card reveals a short fact, an exact date and a source reference. Australian dates appear as day/month/year. Japanese dates appear as year/month/day, including forms such as 1956年8月11日 when playing in Japanese. Events on the same day can go in either order.Choose your language and settle in Switch between English and Japanese from the menu or during play. Both decks have translated card titles, facts, rules and interface text. Country and language are independent, so you can explore either history in either language. Look around from your seat, choose sunset or blue-hour lighting, and enjoy gentle sounds and optional celebration confetti. These touches change the atmosphere without changing the rules. Reduced motion is available, and automatic saves let you continue your latest local match.One table, wherever your friends are Play together on one computer with a handoff screen between turns, or host a Steam table and invite friends or share its table code. Online, each player uses their own computer and sees their own private hand while everyone watches the shared timeline and revealed cards. Online play needs Steam, internet access and matching game versions for every player. Online matches are not saved; if a player leaves or disconnects, the match ends and you can start a new table. There is no mid-match rejoining or host migration. Solo and pass-and-play work offline. A mouse and keyboard are used in all modes. Opening an event's source reference uses a web browser and internet connection.
