The girl who could only sing
Ariel has no weapon. No blade, no harpoon - only her song. There is only one thing to do in the sea: go closer. Sing, feed, stroke, play, spar, or simply wait. Which of the six works depends on their temper — a song will not reach something fierce.Only as far as your breath allows
Breath, scales (pressure) and load (weight) pull on each other. Carry too much and you slow down; slow down and you burn more breath. Past your depth limit, breath drains fast. From midwater on, currents push you — ride one and you save breath, fight it and you waste it.At night, the Sea of Friends
Every friend you bring home goes to the tank of their own waters. Warmth, light and company must all suit them. Push density to 100% and no eggs are laid and bonds start to fray — filling it up costs you. Visitors come to look, and the Renown they leave is the only currency in this sea. Upgrades, tanks, the pedlar's wares — all of it comes from there.Nine seas
Shallows, Coral Garden, Midwater, Shipwreck, Sea Cave, Night Sea, The Depths, Glacier, Hydrothermal Vents. Layouts are hand-made and cycled, not procedurally generated — so the second visit feels like a return. 96 fish and 26 souls live in their own waters. You fight with spells - and nothing dies
Every zone has a guardian in the way. They fire shots, sweep spreads, ram at you and swim in to bite. Ariel carries no weapon, only four water spells sung aloud - dodge by swimming, or answer back: Scale Ward reflects shots and water jets, Whirl stops a ram, Glow breaks a bite. Break an attack and an opening appears - a Surge that lands in it hits three times as hard. Every guardian fights differently and the warnings get shorter, from slow single shots to dragons that breathe straight water jets. Spells cost breath - so every moment asks the same question the dive does: press on, or go up?
Break a guardian's resolve and it gives way rather than falls. From then on you can approach it, and it becomes a friend. Ariel cannot die either - when her breath runs out she simply surfaces. Fierce creatures guard their patch, but a species that has given way once never comes at you again. What you kill can never be your friend.
And Megnis the Sea Dragon is never a fight at all. He asks. What you get for passing is not power but a title — a reward to wear, not to wield.Mermaid → Princess of the Sea → Queen of the Sea
Days alone will not do it, and neither will pushing one thing. Friends, Renown, gates and the aquarium are all counted together — because the moment one axis is enough, everything else becomes decoration.
