Amphibian is a somber, Frog-Based, Super2D RPG for fans of classic console adventures, delivering a tightly curated tactical journey through a fantasy world inhabited by bipedal, talking frogs. The game is a labor of love led by Co-Creators Greg Alexandropoulos and James Roumeliotis, with music being meticulously crafted by the alternative/indie rock band, Western Education. Explore a dangerous, detail-rich world that combines high adventure with the emotional worldbuilding in a tale that details a generation of loss and betrayal between two warring factions. Experience it all through the eyes of a stalwart band of heroes as they navigate treacherous battles, traverse sprawling environments, and engage in palace intrigue. The “tactical turn-based” combat of Amphibian constantly keeps players on their toes through vicious encounters with all manner of beasts, insects, and fellow amphibians. There is no grinding, no economy, and every encounter is deliberately placed, forcing players to continuously manage dwindling resources. Maintaining party health and managing items is critical, as a single blow can render grievous injuries with persistent debuffs. Hunting secrets and thorough exploration becomes ever more important, since every stat and hitpoint matters. Amphibian’s characters grow and develop in ways where no two playthroughs offer the same composition. Using a branching class system, players can develop their heroes in different ways to match the challenges ahead. Each character offers a distinct and customizable gameplay style that can drastically alter the composition of your party. With a story that twists and turns, you never know who will show up... or who will become lost. On the surface, Amphibian is a somber, socio-political narrative about one family, their sacrifices, and the irreparable harm caused by generations of violence, told through a conflict between frogs and toads. Designed as an urgent and concise experience, Amphibian replaces random encounters and level grinding with fully curated battles and intentionally limited side content, creating a forward-driving campaign where every encounter, secret, and system serves the story.
