You're an alchemist. And you were lucky. You were born in the place everyone dreams about: the city of the great alchemists. Stone into gold, herbs into medicine, all of it. Sounds great, right?
It would be. If only you could stop messing with things.
But you couldn't. You kept experimenting. And one day you experimented a little too much, so they threw you out. They gave you an old cart, a cracked cauldron, and a mortar, and said: come back when you're a real alchemist. Not before.
So now you're on the road. Villages, mountains, open meadows. Out here nobody wants gold, and nobody needs a potion for eternal life. Old Yaryna's back hurts. The farmer's cow won't give milk. The orchard's soil is dead. Simple problems. Simple people.
And the best part? This is where you finally get to do the thing they threw you out for. Experiment as much as you want.
Brew right on the road
Your cart opens into a full alchemy table - cauldron, mortar, all of it. Add some wood, pour the water, throw in your ingredients, and take out a finished potion. You don't need a lab. Your lab travels with you.
Experiment (and fail)
Get the recipe right, and you get the potion you wanted. Miss one ingredient, and the cauldron tells you how close you were. And sometimes you make something strange that even you can't explain. But that's often how you find something new.
Collect recipes in the world
Someone left an old scroll near the ruins. A villager will share one if you help them. And some you find yourself, by dropping the right herbs in the pot. Your recipe book grows with you.
Explore and gather
Meadows, woods, paths between the mountains. Herbs don't grow everywhere, so some you have to look for. And while you search, you find traces of people who walked these roads before you.
Help people (and animals)
Someone's back hurts. Someone's cow won't give milk. Someone's orchard is dying. You're not saving the world from a dragon. You just make someone's day a little better. And that feels good.
Upgrade your cauldron, not your muscles
A better cauldron makes harder potions. A bigger bag takes you further. You grow as an alchemist, not a fighter. No combat, no survival, no death. Just you, the road, and the pot.
Oh, and the cauldron? It has an opinion about everything you brew. And it will tell you.
