One of you just wants to sleep. Everyone else is a mosquito. Buzz, bite and sabotage until the human snaps, or grab the swatter, finish your chores and fall asleep before 6 AM. Online asymmetric party game for 2–7 players (1 human vs up to 6 mosquitoes).
00:42. You were almost asleep. Then... bzzzzz.
Midnight 42 is an online asymmetric party game for 2–7 players. One player is a human who just wants a good night's sleep. Everyone else is a mosquito. The night runs from 10 PM to 6 AM, six real minutes, and only one side gets what it wants.
The human wins by falling asleep (or, in the Big House, by meeting the deadline). The mosquitoes win if the human snaps from stress, or if 6 AM comes first.PLAY AS THE HUMAN
- Get your chores done, then get into bed. The more you leave undone, the longer it takes to fall asleep.
- Swat mosquitoes with a flyswatter, shoo them off with your hand while you work, or snatch one out of the air and squeeze.
- Every bite itches. Ignore it and you work slower. Scratch it and you're defenseless for two seconds.
- Turn off the lights to fall asleep faster... and lose sight of what's buzzing around your head.
PLAY AS A MOSQUITO
- Fly anywhere. Hide in the corners, or wait on the ceiling where the swatter can't reach.
- Land on the human and drink. Hit the keys on time to keep sucking.
- Drink three times in a row and you go into a rage: dash in for the next bite.
- Keep feeding, or you'll run out of blood and drop.
- Swatted? You'll be back after a short wait, and the wait gets shorter as the night goes on.
TWO MAPS, TWO KINDS OF NIGHT
- Small Room (2–5 players): Finish the chores, get into bed and fall asleep before dawn.
- Big House, Deadline Mode (6–7 players): The manuscript is due in the morning. Type it, save it and print it before 6 AM. Mosquitoes dive into the router to cut the internet, into the fuse box to kill the power, into the PC to crash it and into the printer to jam it. Coffee keeps you awake... until nature calls.
The map is picked automatically by player count, and the host can change it.RAISE YOUR HAND TO BE HUMAN
Between nights, everyone picks: "I'll be human", "Either way" or "Mosquito only". Volunteers go first, and whoever has played the human least gets the turn. A session lasts one night per player. At the end, the awards ceremony calls out the night's heroes and disasters: Blood King, King of Whiffs, Swatter Magnet, Insomniac, Kamikaze Squad, Ctrl+S Master and more.FEATURES
