You are the Emperor of the Great Ming. You will play as Chongzhen, the last emperor of the Ming dynasty, ruling an empire besieged by crises within and without. Will you turn the tide and forge a restoration — or repeat the fate of hanging yourself on Coal Hill? Every audience with your civil and military officials is a drama played out at court. Suspicion or trust, compromise or resolve — the fate of the realm hangs on a single thought of yours.A Dynasty on the Brink of Collapse In the seventeenth year of the Chongzhen reign, the Ming dynasty teeters amid civil war, natural disasters, and factional strife. Li Zicheng's rebel army closes in on the capital, iron cavalry hammers at the frontier walls beyond the passes, the treasury stands empty, and every man at court harbors his own schemes.
A realm long tormented by factionalism and harsh rule yearns for a wise sovereign. The situation shifts by the hour — enemies press in from every side, and military dispatches arrive without cease. Can you lead the Ming out of its decline? The future of the dynasty rests on your choices. Take care, Your Majesty.
Whom Will You Trust? Work side by side with your ministers day and night, forging a style of governance for this court — iron-fisted or benevolent. Issue edicts, form alliances, and balance the factions to bring welfare to the people — or to serve yourself. But remember: every minister is played by AI in real time, each with their own ideals and their own agenda. They will flatter, conceal, form cliques — and even defy your edicts to your face. Choose your friends carefully; choose your enemies even more carefully.
One Edict, and the Realm Trembles Every decree you issue ripples outward, layer by layer: new levies spark peasant uprisings, reforms enrage the gentry, pardons unsettle the border garrisons. Prestige, popular support, corruption, and factional power rise and fall in turn — every crisis you face is born of your own decisions.
Leave the Palace in Disguise, See the Truth with Your Own Eyes When the memorials whitewash reality, travel incognito among your subjects and see for yourself: grain prices posted on the rice-shop wall, barefoot children in the streets, the rot concealed beneath official reports — secrets known only to you and the ministers who accompany you.
