Kusaka Sousuke is a third-year high school student living in the city. As it happens, he also has a faint power of precognition. During winter break, he takes advantage of a dirt-cheap travel package for students and sets off on a trip. But Sakosue Kakusu, his best friend (or partner in crime?) who was supposed to come along, ditches him, leaving Sousuke to travel alone. Then, by some coincidence, he finds himself on the same train as his classmate, Kozuka Rumi. When he asks, it seems she is headed to the same destination. The name of that destination is Yukizuki. Though hardly the season for ghost stories, every December, ghosts are said to appear there—and people to be spirited away. At first glance, the town seems fairly developed.
