About This Game It's 1980s Britain, and you've spent your life savings on the keys to a derelict pub. What starts as a neglected old boozer is yours to bring back to life. Clean it up, get the essentials working, stock the bar and open the doors to the public. From then on, keeping them open is your problem. This isn't a pub you manage from behind a spreadsheet. You'll be behind the bar pulling pints, handling deliveries, cleaning up after customers and doing the everyday jobs needed to keep a British local running. PULL A PINT Get behind the bar and serve your customers yourself. Pull draught beer, crack open bottles, pour spirits, add mixers and hand over classic bar snacks. Take payment, give the right change and keep an eye on who's been waiting — customers won't stand around forever. KEEP THE BEER FLOWING A busy bar is no good if there's nothing left to sell. Order stock, take deliveries and keep your cellar and bar supplied with everything from draught beer and spirits to bottled drinks and snacks. Keep an eye on what you're selling, what you're running low on and what you can actually afford. Run out at the wrong moment and your customers aren't going to be impressed. MAKE IT YOUR PUB It's a dump when you get the keys. What it becomes is up to you. Give your pub a name, arrange the furniture and decorate the place as you gradually transform a rundown building into a proper local. Invest the money you make back into the business, improve the pub and make it somewhere people actually want to spend their evening. LOOK AFTER THE PUNTERS Customers expect more than a pint. Keep them served, keep the pub presentable and don't leave them standing at the bar for too long. Get things wrong and they'll let you know about it — whether you've kept them waiting, given them the wrong change or they're simply not impressed with the state of the place. Of course, once they've left, somebody still has to clear up after them. That somebody is you. MIND THE MONEY Every drink you sell puts a few more quid in the till, but running a pub isn't cheap. Pay for stock, improvements and the everyday costs of keeping the business going. If money gets tight, borrowing might get you out of trouble — providing you can afford to pay it back. Spend wisely, keep the tills ringing and try not to run your new business into the ground.
