The card you play changes what the next mercenary can do. Match & Ruin is a roguelike card battler built around three mercenaries and the familiar ranks and suits of playing cards.Set up the next move Play a card that matches the rank or suit of the card on the table. The card you play becomes the next card to match. Check the next mercenary's hand and choose a card that sets them up to attack, defend, or use the skill your party needs.Attack, defend, or use a skill Each mercenary uses the same hand for attacks, defense, and skills. Read the enemy's next attack and plan who will strike, who needs to guard, and which skill can turn the fight.Overload their hand Stack draw penalties to push the enemy over its hand limit and win, even with HP remaining.Shape your deck Your mercenaries and the enemy draw from the same deck. Duplicate useful cards, remove unwanted cards, and change their suits, knowing that your changes affect both sides. Collect relics and trinkets, improve your mercenaries' skills, and use consumables to rescue a bad hand as you travel through fallen kingdoms.
