But the most important question isn't how much another artifact is worth. It's how much a human life is worth. Deny someone water, and desperate settlers may raid the warehouse tomorrow. Be too generous, and the government may notice the missing resources and send an inspector. Try to please everyone, and you'll quickly discover there simply isn't enough to go around. Every decision affects the next day. Your actions shape the people's attitude toward you, the government's attention, and the situation within the settlement. A small cog in a vast machine may eventually gain the power to influence the fate of two civilizations. But you have a life of your own. You dream of opening a repair shop for Old World technology. Your brother depends on you. The government provides you with housing as long as you keep doing your job. And ahead of you are 30 days you need to survive. The people are growing more desperate.
