Earth's magnetic field failed a long time ago. The solar wind has been peeling the atmosphere away ever since, and the water went with it, boiled off into space. What's left is a world of exposed seabeds, salt basins and mountain ranges that used to be coastline. You have a ship, and nowhere to be. Description Built on real Earth elevation and seabed data, Waterline takes the sprawl of a classic space sim and folds it onto a single world. Features (Game is in active development, but here is what is already completed) - "Old World" map spanning Scandinavia and Europe to Africa and the Mid-Atlantic Ridge built from real-world elevation and ocean-floor survey data - Land anywhere with finely-tuned physics that differ from ship to ship - Day-to-night lighting cycles - Full ship purchase and outfitting with buy-back - jump drives, weapons, shields, scanners, cargo - Hire and fire named co-pilots - Trading, hauling, salvage, escort work, bounty hunting and piracy - Settlements with individual import/export economies - NPC cargo runners flying real routes between real settlements - and pirates hunting them - Emergent encounters: escort, intervene, take the bounty, or take the cargo - Radio chatter with named pilots and distress calls you can choose to answer
