THE GUTTER

We are Dracoxia Studio, and the Gutter is our first game. We are a small team without deep pockets or some genius producer behind us. What we do have is a difficult story we wanted to tell: a dark tale of how people were sucked into the sinking history. This is a psychological horror game that will take around two hours. Through classic point-and-click adventure and puzzles, you’ll uncover a truth as brutal as it is absurd. Please Note: This is an experience built around story and feel. The puzzles are designed primarily to draw you deeper into the world. If dark stories and antihero narrative are your thing, we hope that Gutter leaves you with a taste of something different and interesting. GAME FEATURES - Explore Flower Boats, the floating brothel in Qing-Dynasty China Guangzhou, 1801. Along the Pearl River, beyond the prosperity of the Thirteen Hongs shops, lay gutters where daylight never reached. We’ve taken serious research to build the oppressive world of Tanka boat-dwellers, flower boats, and opium smoke hanging thick over the water. This isn’t the familiar China of kung-fu tales. It’s a corner of Chinese history that truly existed, yet is rarely spoken of. - Play a Rotten Bastard Forget about being the hero. This time, you’re the kind of bastard who’d sell his own daughter just to live. There are no noble choices here. Only the hard choice between rotten and worse. We want to put you down in history’s gutter and show you how an ordinary man could be swallowed whole, both by the age he lived in and by the weakness in himself. - Absurd, Brutal Puzzles Want the truth? You’ll have to get your hands dirty. You might find yourself drinking from an delicate embroidered shoe, or pissing on a statue to break superstition. You’ll be dragged through memories that are violent, twisted, and best left buried. The puzzles aren’t made to stump you. They’re here to make you uncomfortable, shock you, and perhaps cost you a some sanity damage along the way. - Two Ways to Pay There is no redemption waiting at the end. No forgiveness. Only different ways of payback. When you finally come face-to-face with the sins of your own making, your choices will decide how you reach your end. Two paths. Both lead to hell. Only the journey there is different.
