Of Grit & Graves is a roguelite turn-based tactical RPG built in the spirit of the tabletop classics like HeroQuest and Descent, the ones with the little cardboard doors. Lead a party of four where strategic thinking meets the thrill of chance. You'll fight on a grid, one turn at a time, where line of sight matters, position matters, and the dice decide everything else. Do you have the grit to forge ahead, or will you end up in the grave? Four heroes, each with unique abilities and tactical roles: - ⚔️ The Warrior - Rage builds with every foe that falls. At full fury, Berserk doubles his attack dice. He has no plan beyond this and has never needed one. - ✨ The Cleric - A divine healer who mends wounds, shields the party with sacred magic, and summons monsters to fight alongside you. Nobody has asked where she gets them. - 🗡️ The Rogue - Strikes from behind for double damage, spots the traps that everyone else finds with their feet, and disarms them. Usually. - 🔮 The Wizard - A master of arcane arts wielding battlefield-controlling spells and devastating offensive magic. Roll physical 3D dice that tumble with satisfying weight, or speed up gameplay with instant results—the choice is yours. Position your heroes strategically, as line of sight, range, and hidden traps all matter. Plan your attacks, anticipate enemy moves, and use the environment to your advantage. Combat unfolds through dice rolls where your character build—not just luck—determines victory. Every monster in the game has its own mechanics that challenge you with sophisticated threat-based targeting and tactical spellcasting. They also pay attention: enemies track who has hurt them most and adjust their targeting accordingly. Holding a grudge turns out to be a sophisticated tactical behaviour. Your heroes earn Grit the hard way: by dealing damage, by taking it, and by putting monsters down for good. Spend it on Grit abilities that pull the odds back toward you. Reroll the miss that was about to end the run. Reflect damage at whatever just dealt it. Sharpen your critical chance at the moment it counts, or prepare one more spell than you had any right to. The dice still decide plenty. They just don't get the final word. Explore procedurally generated dungeons that ensure no two expeditions are identical. Each descent generates its own layout, enemy placements, traps, objectives, and treasure, so the realm you cleared last time will not be the realm you find this time. What you bring into each dungeon, and take from it, is yours to shape: - ⚔️ Upgrade Attributes for Combat: Invest experience points to increase Hit Points, Strength, Intelligence, and Dexterity. Your stats directly determine how many attack and defense dice you roll. - 🛡️ Acquire Equipment: Find weapons, armour, and shields that provide tangible combat benefits. - 💍 Discover Relics: Equip powerful magical relics with unique and game-changing effects. - 🔨 Upgrade Almost Everything: Nearly every item and spell in the game can be upgraded, most along two separate paths. Some gear answers to one hero and no other. No two parties come out of the dungeon equipped the same way. - 🧙‍♂️ Deep Spell System: Manage which magical abilities you bring with you in a deep spell system. Prepare limited spells with strategic resource management. - 🏰 Stumble Upon Ritual Rooms: Discover challenges you don't have to accept. Win, and your party carries the bonus until something takes it away. Lose, and you carry a curse instead. And then there are the curious items. A Goblin Lucky Sock. A Jar of Pickled Eyeballs. A Moldy Cheese Wheel. An Adventurer's Forgotten d20. They are exactly as strange as they sound, and most of them are genuinely useful. Every hero, monster, and relic is drawn by hand, and your career statistics are tracked in full, so you will always know precisely how many times it was the dice's fault.
