Over Grandparadox
Go back in time and KILL Grandad.
Grandparadox is a co-operative digital board game. Travel back through Grandad's life, one decade at a time, from 100 all the way down to 0. You start in the present day, with 100-year-old Grandad. The group wins when baby Grandad has been eliminated, completing the Grandparadox.
On your turn
Kill. Fight Grandad in whatever decade you're in. Play weapons, use Youth Potions, and trust in the dice. Beat his energy, and that version's gone, along with any versions older than him.
Farm. Draw from a massive deck of cards. You might find a tank, a big anime sword, a wedgie, or you may get unlucky and draw nothing at all. Age a decade to gain more weaponry to use against Grandad.
Time Travel. You're not gonna be able to kill Grandad in every decade if you don't do some travelling, so hop in the time machine and roll to head backwards. If Grandad's alive when you arrive, get ready for battle!
Failing to kill Grandad will push you a decade into the future, causing YOU to age. Get too old, and you'll die instead! In the regular mode, this will make you forfeit an item and reroll your age. In the permadeath mode (coming soon), this will be game over for you, so play carefully!
At any time
Age. The younger Grandad is, or the older you are, the harder he'll be to kill. Weapons will help to close the gap, but more people at the table, or a higher difficulty, can make him even tougher.
Collaborate. This is a co-op game at heart! Work together with your team mates to beat Grandad. Pass weapons and potions through time to each other at any time to give a helping hand! (not just your turn)
Gamemodes
Grandparadox can be played solo with bots, or with up to 9 other players online!
Currently, there's only one gamemode, classic, with four difficulty settings. Easy, Normal, Hard, Impossible.
Future content: post-release, new gamemodes will be added, including the "permadeath" mode, and "race" PvP mode. Equally, new ways to play will be added, including couch co-op, and controller support! Alongside all of this, accessibility changes will be made to allow for adjusting text, fonts, colours, etc, as well as a TTS narrator for the visually impaired. Please keep an eye out for all of these!
Credits
Grandparadox, the art and the concept, belongs in its entirety to Eddie "Eddache" Bowley, and this game was made alongside his, and his community's feedback every step of the way. I hope he's genuinely happy with the final product.
Grandparadox Steam Edition was developed by jbg0801. I hope everyone enjoys what I've brought out. Working on this game has given me an outlet for one of the worst times in my life, and I really hope the passion I was able to pour through into it shows in the end.
Special thanks
jbg0801 wants to thank:
- Eddie for creating Grandparadox, and giving me the chance to make this version of it.
- TomSka, Eddie & the whole TurboPunch team. I've watched your content for so long, and it's inspired so much of who I am today (both for better and for worse) and I can't thank you guys enough for the years of entertainment you've brought me.
- my amazing mum, who passed away during the creation of this game. She's been my biggest supporter all through my life, always there to back me and help me up when I stumble or go wrong, and I'll never be able to say enough thanks to her for all of it. I never got a chance to tell her about this project before it was too late, and I really think she would have been proud of it. I love you mum, sleep well.
