Tokyo, Japan, 2003. Three years have passed since a mysterious, ancient relic awakened and began strange operations, eventually plaguing Tokyo with cases of people transforming into monsters. Some began exploiting the relic in pursuit of wealth and power. Eventually, the organs of these mutated people began to be traded at astronomical prices, as if rare gemstones. The Japanese government, which had been secretly researching the relic, moved forward with a project in response. Its ultimate goal: to claim the relic's power to create strong, obedient soldiers. People of all ages and backgrounds were used as test subjects, their bodies modified and enhanced. And so, a new experiment was born under the government--one whose purpose was to eliminate illegal organizations through combat and to recover biological specimens.
