Hold against a charge, fall back to regroup, then advance when enemy morale begins to waver. Read the battle line and create your opening. Push, hold, or fall back Switch between Advance, Defend, and Retreat while watching morale on both sides and the position of the front line. Commit to an All-Out Charge, or save your orders and stratagems for a better opening. The timing of your commands changes the struggle for ground. Build a different army with every victory Choose one of three reward cards after battle. Combine the troops, formations, orders, stratagems, and doctrines you acquire, then prepare your army for its next fight. - Shape your strengths with front- and rear-line troops and a formation. - Choose when to use charge and defense orders, arrow volleys, and smoke screens. - Use passive doctrines to support breakthrough power, endurance, or morale. Survive the campaign, not just the battle Choose a path through battles, elite enemies, supplies, rewards, and events. Scout ahead to learn what awaits, then decide whether to take a dangerous fight or give your army a chance to recover. Reserves replace your losses, but they will not last forever.
