The White Cat’s Dark Affair is a cyberpunk hitman thriller. You are The Cat, a professional killer navigating a dystopian future, entangled in a global murderous plot. The game is a short-form point-and-click adventure designed for players who value unique narrative experiences. Cyberpunk It’s 2049; after the Third World Wide War, 20th-century capitalism has evolved into the post-capitalist era, where corporations have armies, and the Climate Collapse has become the new normality. Most nations have united under the bureaucratic hell that is the UN, yet they are unable to overcome the challenges that humanity faces. Hitman As The White Cat, a professional killer, you receive a call every day from The Dark Voice, a hidden entity that gives you the details and requirements of your next “job”. Thriller It’s just a job to do. No matter how fast they run, how unreachable they think they are, how high in the ladder, they always fall hard. But being the last of the line will not spare you from the consequences. Minimalist point-and-click gameplay and focused narrative The White Cat’s Dark Affair uses the paradigm of point-and-click adventure games to tell a story about truth, without artificial gamification or blockages. Hand-crafted pixel art in a retro-cyberpunk aesthetic The detailed pixel art is crafted by Dumaker, a multidisciplinary punk artist who likes to mock up video games and different approaches to The Cat character. Additionally, the pixel visuals are stylized using 2D lighting, rim highlights, and post-processing effects. High-quality sound design and original soundtrack The soundtrack, by Jorge Gallego, is heavily inspired by Vangelis’ Blade Runner OST. First title in the expanded The White Cat Universe The White Cat universe began as a point-and-click adventure mockup by Dumaker around 2013, called “The White Cat Watches”, that would work as a prequel to “Dark Affair”. If the game is successful, we have more stories for The Cat: that prequel, and a sequel called "The White Cat's Last Days", both full-fledged adventure games.
