Kobold Tactics

Kobold Tactics is a tactical roguelike RPG inspired by the strategic depth of Dungeons & Dragons, Final Fantasy Tactics, and X-COM: UFO Defense. You play as a cunning, conniving kobold with delusions of grandeur, searching for a new nest—and instead finding yourself in the service of Red, a lazy and imperious dragon who would rather nap than deal with you. Amused and mildly annoyed, Red sends you on what he fully expects to be your final mission. Whether you survive—and continue to irritate him—depends entirely on your strategy. Built around easy-to-learn, hard-to-master systems, Kobold Tactics rewards experimentation across repeated runs. Recruit new units, customize them with distinct races, classes, and skills, and adapt your tactics to overcome increasingly dangerous encounters. No two runs are the same, and every failure is a lesson that sharpens your next attempt. The game features five core scenarios supported by procedurally generated battles that challenge players to refine their strategies and develop their team over time. Units who survive grow stronger, and players can choose to recruit them again in future runs, building a persistent sense of progression within the roguelike structure. True to its tabletop roots, Kobold Tactics was originally designed and playtested using miniatures, dice, and battlemats—and that spirit remains at its core. A fully playable tabletop version is included, allowing players to bring the experience to life with friends. Combined with a vibrant “24-bit” visual style and a nostalgic, throwback soundtrack, Kobold Tactics delivers a fresh yet familiar tactical experience every time you play.
