Fight huge hordes with six skills you cast by hand in this pixel-art action RPG. Push east through 100 rings, kill each ring's boss to open the next, and forge new skills from the books enemies drop. Your power never resets. How far can you get?
Ringward is a pixel-art action RPG about fighting your way through huge crowds of monsters. There are no auto-attacks: you aim and cast all six of your skills yourself.
The world is a line of 100 rings stretching east from the Sanctuary, the only safe place in it. Each ring is its own biome with its own monsters and its own boss, and the next ring stays sealed until that boss is dead. The further east you go, the tougher the monsters and the better the rewards.
Features
- Six hand-cast skills - Left click, right click, Q, E, R and Space. Your basic attack builds mana, right click, Q and E spend it, and your dash hits everything in its path.
- Build your own skills - Enemies drop skill books. At the Skill Forge, pick one of 60 bases and give it an element, a behaviour and modifiers. More books of the same base level it up.
- Six elements - Fire burns, Frost freezes, Lightning chains, Wind knocks back, Earth weakens and stuns, and Void executes enemies at low health.
- A huge passive tree - 571 nodes across eight sections, with notables and keystones that change how your build plays. Respec for free at the Sanctuary.
- A boss for every ring - Boss attacks are telegraphed, so you can learn them. Deeper in, bosses start to enrage, fire volleys, summon adds and split.
- Progress that sticks - No prestige and no wipes. Your levels, skills, tree and gear stay with you.
- Bank it or risk it - Dying costs you 40% of the Essence you carry. Bank it at the Sanctuary to keep it safe, or go for one more ring.
- Wands - Your only gear. Wear four at once, roll affixes and aspects, and upgrade them at the anvil.
- 10 wizards - Start as the Ember Adept and unlock the others by beating ring bosses.
