It's closing time at Night Owl Video, a Y2K rental store buried under two thousand VHS tapes. Sort every tape by genre and decade, rewind the forgotten ones, return the scratched discs, crack a soda, and maybe flip the breaker in the back room. No timer. Just you and the night shift.
The night shift nobody wanted.
The customers are gone, the neon is buzzing and Night Owl Video is a disaster. Over two thousand VHS tapes cover the floors of a chrome-and-ice-blue Y2K rental store: three rooms, a mezzanine, a loft across a steel bridge and a back room nobody talks about. Your job: put every single tape back where it belongs.
Sort by genre and decade
Horror, Action, Comedy, Sci-Fi and Drama, each split into the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Every tape has its own slot, and every shelf you finish lights up a little celebration.
Hundreds of original parody covers
Hand-made covers inspired by the movies you grew up with, from slashers and space operas to buddy-cop comedies. Spot the joke in every title.
Be kind, rewind
Some customers never rewind. Feed those tapes to the car-shaped rewinder at the checkout and listen to it whirr. Scratched DVDs don't belong on the shelf at all: drop them in the RETURNS bin by the door.
A store full of distractions
- Buy a soda from the vending machine and actually drink it (sugar rush included)
- Race through midnight traffic on the loft CRT in HYPERLANE, a tiny 2000-era console game
- Find 12 chrome owls hidden around the store
- Snap photos with the NOVA PIX 2000 digital camera
- Spin around (badly) on the office chair
- Flip the big breaker in the back room… and see what happens
- Pet the cat on top of the soda machine
Pure physics, zero pressure
Grab, stack, spin and throw tapes however you like. Stash a few in your quick slots, roll the ladder over for the top shelves, cross the bridge to the loft. No timer, no fail state. Your progress saves automatically.
