Über Second Dawn
Make a home. Uncover what came before.
You were sent ahead to make Hearth habitable before humanity arrives. Your lander touches down as planned. Beyond its ramp lies a frozen world, a mission to complete, and the remains of a civilisation nobody understands.
Second Dawn is a first-person survival and terraforming adventure where changing the planet changes what you can discover.
Terraforming is excavation
Warm the ground and frozen passages open. Thicken the atmosphere and a silent canyon begins to sing. Bring the first rain and writing emerges from beneath the dust. Return to familiar places as Hearth changes, and find a different world waiting there.
Build the world you need
Gather minerals, print equipment and raise a working base. Balance power, warmth and air as your machines push heat, pressure, oxygen and biomass upward. Watch grey plains give way to water, greenery and alien life. Every shelter extends your reach; every expedition brings you closer to a breathable world.
Follow the evidence underground
Carry a lamp into the Rustfall Deep. Examine worked stone, warm ceramic and doors sealed from the other side. Scan what you find and connect the evidence in your Chronicle. The story is written into the landscape, and terraforming brings it into view.
A quiet frontier with a 1999 soul
Painted textures, angular machinery, a hazy horizon and a brilliant lens flare give Hearth the atmosphere of early 3D PC games. Survival centres on oxygen, water and shelter. There is no combat: the challenge is learning to live here, then making the planet a place where others can live too.
