Über Night Drives
Do you remember those nights you spent going nowhere in particular?
Night Drives is a conversation-driven adventure game about a single night spent in the passenger seat of a friend's car.
You play as Subaru, sitting beside the driver as the car moves through the city after midnight, taking in the idle talk with your friends and the mood inside the car. There is no set destination and no goal to reach. You simply spend a few hours together until morning comes.
Time in the Passenger Seat
You don't drive the car. You spend the night as the character sitting in the passenger seat.
- Change the music playing in the car
- Open the window
- Drink a can of coffee
- Light a cigarette and smoke
- Listen to your friends talk
- Watch the scenery go by outside
You're free to do any of these while a conversation is under way. Your friends may react to what you do.
Pick Up Topics from Outside the Window
Every so often, something outside the moving car catches your eye.
Pick it up before it passes, and that sight or moment becomes a new topic, starting a conversation with your friends.
Rather than just reading through a story, look around you and find the small things that happen over the course of the night.
There's a limit to how much you can pick up on a single drive. Scenery you let pass by won't come around again that night.
A Short Story of One Night
Subaru and three friends: Kou, Kana, and Saya. The four of them get together for no particular reason and head out into the night without deciding where they're going. Pointless jokes, feelings that slip out, and silence. The conversation wanders as it makes its way toward dawn.
A short work that follows those few hours from beginning to end, until morning arrives. Estimated playtime is about 2 hours.
