Explore a Dead World
The world of Midtvinter is built around exploration and scavenging.
Abandoned houses contain the remains of ordinary lives. Vehicles sit where they were left. Stores, workshops, farms, and industrial buildings have been picked clean. But something useful might still be hiding inside. Every location is an opportunity to find something you need.
Loot & Inventory
Scavenge
Search buildings, vehicles, containers, and other abandoned places for whatever you can find.
Food keeps you alive. Medicine helps you recover. Ammunition gives you a way to deal with threats.
Dynamic Loot
Loot is randomized, making every playthrough different.
Items can appear in different locations, and valuable supplies are never guaranteed. You may find exactly what you need. or spend an entire day searching without finding anything useful.
Inventory Management
Everything you carry has to fit somewhere.
Midtvinter uses a grid-based inventory system where the size and shape of items matter. Deciding what to carry, what to leave behind, and what is worth making room for is an important part of survival.
Survival
The Cold
The environment itself is one of your biggest threats.
Keep yourself fed, hydrated, and warm. Exposure to the cold can turn a routine scavenging trip into a fight for survival.
The weather and temperature can make even a familiar journey dangerous.
Wildlife
The wilderness is no longer empty.
Deer can provide valuable food, while wolves and bears can turn an otherwise quiet expedition into a deadly encounter.
Not every animal needs to be fought. Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is keep your distance.
Line of Sight
You can see the world from an isometric perspective, but you don't see everything.
Buildings, trees, terrain, and other obstacles can hide threats from view. Pay attention to your surroundings and don't assume that an area is safe just because it looks quiet.
