Über Demersus
A mind unraveling, rendered by hand.
Demersus is a short, first-person, atmospheric walking sim that explores the reality of alcohol addiction right from inside the mind experiencing it. You navigate the protagonist's fractured psyche: a mindscape built entirely from beautiful clay objects and set pieces, giving everything a tactile, uncanny weight that's hard to replicate.
Piece Together a Life Falling Apart
Explore environments that are reflections of real conflicts of the protagonist and ammend them. Environmental storytelling and hand-crafted puzzles reveal fragments of a life where relationships were strained, moments lost, a person slipping further from who they used to be. Nothing is explained outright, you're left to read the room, and the person, the same way you'd read someone you love who won't talk about what's wrong.
A World You Can Almost Touch
Thanks to our custom clay pipeline, we were able to achieve realistic looking digital clay. The result is an easier production for us and a special visual identity which isn't common among games. It has a soft, handmade, look that is deliberately at odds with the coldness of what it portrays.

Made by Two University Students With Love 💗
Demersus started as a project for our university's (Akademia Nauk Stosowanych Stefana Batorego) computer graphics and game design courses. It's built entirely by two students with no outside funding, no studio, and no shortcuts with almost everything being crafted by just us.
